Pink and White Button Ring

A few years ago my grandmother gave me a treasure chest full vintage buttons.  Well, it wasn’t a real treasure chest like the pirates use, but it felt like that to me.  It was really a 40-year-old blue tin with a flower design on it.  But, none the less, I was pleased to have it.  My grandmother was a seamstress in her younger days and she kept every left over from all her projects.  I always loved playing in those buttons when I was little.  She always let me create with them.  I’d sew them to scraps of fabric, use them in paper collages and of course, glue them to cards.  Just a couple of  years ago my grandmother and I sat down together and made button rings using her buttons.  It’s hard to believe that was one of the last few times we would create together.  Now she is in a total care nursing home six hours away from me so I don’t get to see her that often and she is not able to craft anymore.  I was feeling lonely for her so I thought I would take down her button tin and combine them with some of the newer ones I have acquired.  (I also save everything, I know where I get it from.) 🙂  This is one that I created.  I also have quite a few others listed in my Etsy shop.  So click on over and take a look.  You could own a piece of “grandmother love” too. 🙂

18 inch Doll Necklaces

I’ve spent the last couple of afternoons making matching necklaces for my daughter and her American Girl Doll, Julie.  Her favorite color is pink and American Girl’s logo is a star.  I thought they turned out really cute.  It has been so fun and the people who have seen them so far said I should add some to my Etsy shop.  So click on over there if you’d like to see more…

Grandmother’s Patches Beaded Bracelet

I’ve been busy the last couple of days making jewelery… mostly bracelets and earrings.  I saw these beads the other day and had to have them.  They remind me of the patches from the quilts my grandmother has made and taught me to make.  So I have aptly named this bracelet “Grandmother’s Patches” and made the very first one for my grandmother.  She loved it.

I’ve made several others and listed them on my Esty site…  If you want one you can click this link or the picture above to be directed to the listing for this bracelet.  I’ve listed several other bracelets so make sure you take a look at all of them. 🙂

Fairies In Disguise

I absolutely love dragonflies!  Did you know that they are fairies in disguise?

I just had to share my latest beaded bracelet.  It measures 6-1/2 inches long.  I used metal dragonflyand pink glass beads to create the bracelet.  I created the dangle charm using the the same pink beads and metal dragonfly wings.  I arranged them on a headpin and slightly curved the end to simulate a dragonfly in flight.

I picked up the metal dragonfly wings from a fabulous little beading store located in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin called Beadology.  They have a large variety of beads and jewelry making components and many great samples displayed to inspire you.  Plus, the shop’s atmosphere is very welcoming.  You can purchase your items and then go back to the work room to start creating you masterpiece.  I’d highly recommend stopping by Beadology if you’re in the Lake Geneva area.  But if you can’t get there physically, here is the link to the stores website

You can visit my Etsy store if you’re interested in seeing more of my beaded creations.
