I had to share this creepy journal that I made using a half composition notebook. I loved this victorian funeral themed paper. It is from the Midnight Dreary line from Got Moxie. I’ve discussed how to make these so often that I am not going to repeat myself. 🙂 You can always visit my previous post for detailed directions. And, if you want one for yourself but don’t want to make it yourself, you can alwasy visit my Etsy shop and purchase this one.
I have decided that I will feature Halloween projects and finds from now till Halloween. This is a journal I made using a large composition notebook and covering it with vampire cardstock from Martha Stewart. I love Martha Stewart’s Halloween style and I look forward to buying her new stuff every fall. I wish I could be on her show making these journals using her cardstock! 🙂 If anybody out there knows her and loves my stuff, give her a call and set me up!! 🙂
On to how I made the journal… As I was saying, I used a large composition notebook and covered it in cardstock. I used Zip Dry Paper Glue to adhere the cardstock. It is fast drying and doesn’t wrinkle your paper. I then stamped the word forever and tied a black ribbon onto the front cover near the spine. The inside covers are also covered in black cardstock. And lastly, I used walnut ink to stain all three edges of both covers to give it a finished, polished look. It is a simple project, but it does take time and steps to complete. If you don’t have the time but would still like the journal you can purchase this one from my Etsy shop. This last photo is the back of the journal…
I’ve had a very busy summer with work and kids activities. It is so hard to believe that summer vacation is over. My last post was in March and it was about shopping with my daughter at a rubber stamp convention. By mid day she had a fever and upset stomach. Little did we know she was going to have to have an appendectomy. Wow! How things can change in an instant. She was in so much pain. She quickly recovered once it was removed and she hardly even talks about it now. We also had summer sports and vacation “day trips”. All this “busy-ness” made our summer fly by. Now school has started this week. What happened to the lazy days of summer like when I was a kid?
During all our “busy-ness” I have taken on a new hobby. I have been rescuing vintage items from various places (garage sales, thrift stores) and trying to find new homes for them. 🙂 I love all these old items that are beautiful pieces of art. It pains me to see them being thrown away. The casserole dish pictured above is a prime example of some of my lovely finds. It is a vintage milk glass Arcopal France casserole dish. The design pattern is called “French Hens”. Isn’t it lovely? What really makes me smile is my 8 year old daughter has taken an interest in helping me find things. It is awesome to see the bug being passed to her. If you’re interested in seeing our latest finds you can check out my Etsy Store. I’m listing items almost daily.
I’ve also been busy creating new greeting cards, notebooks, journals and various other art pieces. I’ve been taking my paper arts to a new level and been experimenting with mixed media painting. It is so much fun. I can’t wait to share it all.
It is with great sadness that I announce The Angel Company has closed. No more orders can be placed. They gave us the word several days ago but we were not to announce it publicly until today, while a few loose business ends were being tied up.
Thanks to each and every one of you who have supported me as an Angel. I have enjoyed my time working for The Angel Company and hope to one day find another company that is equally as fulfilling! I have met some wonderful people through this company and made life-long friends and for that I am greatful!
But never fear, we will continue to stamp and create together. I hope you will continue to follow my blog as I will continue to post handmade items and ideas and to keep you posted with what is going on in my Etsy shop, Kandy’s Keepsakes! I will also continue to host stamp camps at my home and perform “Ladies Night Out Events” in your homes, churches, etc. On that note…
My next Stamp Camp will be held at my home on Friday, September 30th. We will make 4 Halloween projects and have dinner along with great fellowship. The admission fee is $20.00. (Receive $5.00 off your admission when you bring a new friend). Email or call now to make your reservation.
I made this lovely bracelet and earrings set and posted it on my Kandy’s Keepsakes Etsy store. I used black and turquoise colored glass beads with silver spacers. Please click on my Etsy store to see all the new items I’ve listed.
