A few years ago my grandmother gave me a treasure chest full vintage buttons. Well, it wasn’t a real treasure chest like the pirates use, but it felt like that to me. It was really a 40-year-old blue tin with a flower design on it. But, none the less, I was pleased to have it. My grandmother was a seamstress in her younger days and she kept every left over from all her projects. I always loved playing in those buttons when I was little. She always let me create with them. I’d sew them to scraps of fabric, use them in paper collages and of course, glue them to cards. Just a couple of years ago my grandmother and I sat down together and made button rings using her buttons. It’s hard to believe that was one of the last few times we would create together. Now she is in a total care nursing home six hours away from me so I don’t get to see her that often and she is not able to craft anymore. I was feeling lonely for her so I thought I would take down her button tin and combine them with some of the newer ones I have acquired. (I also save everything, I know where I get it from.) 🙂 This is one that I created. I also have quite a few others listed in my Etsy shop. So click on over and take a look. You could own a piece of “grandmother love” too. 🙂
