Sweet Treat Bag Sneak Peak

"Sweets for My Sweet" Treat Bag

Here is a small sneak peak at one of the four projects we will be doing at this month’s stamp camp.

I covered 2 miniatures candy bars with scrapbook paper from The Angel Company’s Gentle Beginnings Collection.  I then tied a piece of embroidery floss around them and placed them in a small cello bag.  I made the topper using white cardstock and a piece of paper from the same paper collection.  I stamped “Sweets for my sweet” and the candy pieces from The Angel Company Stamp Set Little Cupcake on white cardstock and colored them with colored pencils.  I adhered the candy pieces with Pop Dots to give them dimension.

It is a super easy project.  You won’t want to miss out on all the fun next Tuesday, April 14th.

Mini Scrapbook in an Evening

I purchased the special edition Mini Albums in an Evening from Simple Scrapbooks magazine a few days ago.  Right on page 5 was an inspiring idea from The Angel Company.  It was an ad that featured a darling little baby album made with Toodle Loo 12×12 Cardstock Collection.  I just had to make it.  So last night I sat down with some black and white photos of myself and my daughter when she was just 7 weeks old.  (Boy, how time flies.  She just started pre-school last week.)  If you compare my album cover to the album in the ad, the overall design is the same.  I distressed my photo and adhered it with Pop Dots.  I also used a white jel pen to add the white dots around the photo’s edge.  I changed mine by making the album wider.  I used the Juliette 12×12 Cardstock Collection and I added the stamped sentiment, “it’s the little things”.

I started off by figuring out how many pictures I wanted to use so I could decide how many pages I would need to fill the album.  Once that was decided, I picked the 2 raspberry colored chipboards from the Brights Chipboard Stack to coordinate with the Juliette Collection.  I love these chipboard stacks.  They are 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 inch pieces of chipboard covered in textured cardstock.  They are easy and convenient for binding with the Bind-IT-All when making these kind of albums, notebooks or note pads.  No need to construct your own covers when you have these.  Plus, they are acid and lignin free… Super Simple!

As you’ll see from my next few photos, I layered Juliette Cardstock Collection with the coordinating Juliette Cardstock to form the foundation for the pages.  I glued 2 pieces of cardstock back to back to give the pages extra strength.  I used Violete Palette Ink to cover the edges of the pages and chipboard.  This “direct to paper” method covers any white spaces that may be showing after the glue has set.

Then I added the Juliette tags, Ribbon and Hardware along with Paper Posies, Bitty Blossoms and Princess Brads to dress it up.

I used the stamp set It’s the Little Things to stamp the following sentiments:

“it’ the little things”

“enjoying the moment”

“being grateful.”

“that bless our lives the most.”

After I completed the design I used the Bind-It-All and binding wire to put it all together.  The Bind-It-All is another “must have” tool if you love to create albums, notebooks, notepads.  The Angel Company just started carrying it this year.  You can bind just about anything with it.  It’s a compact tool that is strong and sturdy.  I highly recommend it.

I love my little 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 inch album.  And, I did get it done in an evening just like the magazine advertised.  It’s a really nice special edition.  There a tons of great samples and ideas in it.  Why don’t you sit down tonight and make one for yourself?  You can visit my TAC website to purchase any of the materials I used to make this fabulous album… http://kandy.ismyangel.com

Scraps Bookmarks

I made these cute little book marks today using jumbo (3-1/2 inches long) paper clips.  I purchased the clips from Wal-mart in the office supply section.  This is a very easy project.  I used various punches.

I punched my shape once in light weight chipboard and twice in decorative cardstock.  I used glue stick to adhere one decorative cardstock to the chipboard.  Then I attached my embellishments (paper flowers and pastel princess brads) to the other piece of cardstock before adhering it to the chipboard.  I used rubber cement to attach the two sides together with the paperclip in between.  Rubber cement now comes acid free, which I love for this type of project because of its quick “tackiness” and fast drying.  Other glues didn’t hold well around the paper clip or I had to hold the piece for forever waiting for the glue to set.

Once the rubber cement set I tied one or two pieces of ribbon around the clip for once last decorative touch.  🙂

Mini Accordian Scrapbook

I was going through some old stamped samples and found this cute template for a mini scrapbook.  I had these wallet sized photos lying around of my best friend’s family that would fit perfectly.  I am going to see her this week and can’t wait to show her what I’ve made with the photos she gave me.  She’s going to want them back.

The outside cover measures 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches.  It is easier to use double sided printed or colored cardstock.  I used the blue patterned paper from Mia’s Cottage 12×12 Cardstock Collection.  One side is white so I used glue stick to adhere 2 cardstock sheets together.

The inside green cardstock insert measures 3 x 11-3/4 inches.  If you accordion fold it in half and then in half again it will fit perfectly between the 2 covers.  Center and adhere the orange ribbon to the inside of back cover before adhering the back cover to the green insert.

I used the tags from the cardstock collection to decorate the front cover and to highlight an inside photo.  I also used white Paper Posies and pastel Flower Sequins to accent the front cover and inside sentiment.

It is a quick project.  And with the ribbon tie closure, it makes a lovely gift.
